Certificate in Christian Ministries in Northern Lake County, IL
Trinity International University is pleased to work in conjunction with local pastors in Northern Lake County to equip adult learners in their communities through this certificate program.
Courses will be offered at the University Center of Lake County in Waukegan, and classes will be held on alternating Tuesday evenings from 6-10 pm. Students will earn three credit hours for each successfully completed course, resulting in a total of 15 credit hours for the certificate.
Advantages of this schedule
- Fall courses begin after Labor Day.
- There are no course meetings in late November (during Thanksgiving), December, July, and August.
- There are two weeks between each class session for students to complete their assignments.
Pricing for the Five Courses (including books)
- One-Time Payment = $1,875 (if paid at the beginning of the certificate program)
- Monthly Payment Plan = $2,000 (if paid in 20 monthly installments of $100 each)
- For students who have already taken one or more of these courses, Trinity will adjust the total tuition accordingly.
The five courses leading to this certificate are scheduled as follows:
|CM 375: Foundations of Christian Counseling
This course familiarizes the student with the principles and techniques of counseling in ministry settings with a focus on counselor characteristics, problem-management skills, common counseling problems, multicultural dynamics, and various issues involved in the counseling process. Special emphasis will be placed on the unique contribution of biblical truths to counseling. Taught by Dr. Russell Kinkade.

|BI 275: Teaching the Bible
A study of theories and methods of teaching the Bible utilizing instructional objectives. Students will prepare and present lesson plans to demonstrate their proficiency in the stating and accomplishing of appropriate educational objectives.

|CM 210: Ministry in Its Cultural Context
An introduction to the theology, purposes, challenges, and scope of various types of ministries in their current cultural context. A particular emphasis is given to understanding philosophical and theological pluralism. Taught by Dr. Amit Bhatia

This course explores the theoretical and practical aspects of Christian spiritual development. Special attention is given to understanding and participating in the spiritual disciplines – both personal and corporate.

A study of the theology and methodology of evangelism with particular emphasis on the gospel message and the biblical reasons for doing evangelism.

This certificate program is only available in Waukegan, IL, and is for non-degree-seeking students only. No financial aid is available to non-degree-seeking students, but the tuition for this program has been significantly discounted.
